Don't tell anyone I told you but...
The trouble with secrets is the harder you try to keep them, the more you have to tell someone. The bigger the secret, the bigger the urge to pass it on.
Well now you can!
Confess all at the Wall of Secrets at the Ilkley Literature Festival where you can tell the whole world…without ever being found out.
What is the Wall of Secrets?
It's a wall at the Ilkley Literature Festival built entirely from postcards, each bearing a secret on the front. It's also a performance at the fringe festival in October.
But it's more than just a bunch of old postcards. The Wall of Secrets aims to explore the nature of secrets and why we keep things hidden. It's also the chance for you to express yourself and to have a nosey at other people's secrets!
Why should I tell you my secret?
Because you can't tell the world your secret, but we can! Whisper it to us and we'll broadcast it to the nation. With no repercussions. Absolutely scot-free! Imagine how good that will feel. Go on…we dare you!
What kind of secrets do you want?
Whatever you're hiding: big revelations or small things you've never told anyone before. Strange habits, acts of revenge, jealous thoughts, guilty secrets or things you know that you shouldn't. Use your imagination - but remember each secret has to be true and it has to be yours to tell. (You can submit as many as you like).
What will my secret be used for?
We promise not to keep your secret! Your secret could soon be starring on stage at the Ilkley Literature Festival, or seen by millions (slight exaggeration) on this wall of secrets website. Or we might simply write it on a postcard and stick it on the official wall of secrets that we'll be building for the festival in October. Who knows, it may even end up in print. However we reserve the right to edit or change elements of the secrets to protect the guilty!

Who's behind the Wall?
The concept was created by Writers' Salts, a writing group that meets monthly in Bradford. The Wall is created by you. :-)
"I used my landlord's toothbrush to clean the toilet."
"My children still look for Lucky every day. I drove over him three months ago."
"I slept with my best friend's boyfriend while she was away in Glastonbury."
